Where to ask, report and contribute, and what to expect when you do.
Brazilian Utils lives on GitHub, in the Brazilian Utils organization. Each library has its own repository, and this site and the shared contract live in docs.
Where each thing goes
| You want to | Go to |
|---|---|
| Ask how to do something | The Discussions of the library's repository |
| Report a bug in a library | The Issues of the library's repository, with the input, what you got and what you expected |
| Propose a new utility or change a rule | An issue in docs. A change to the contract reaches every library. |
| Fix a mistake on this site | The link to edit the page on GitHub, at the end of each page, or an issue in the docs repository |
| Report a security problem | In private: the library's SECURITY.md, or support@brazilian-utils.com.br. Never in a public issue. |
Contribute code
- Look for an open issue first. Issues with the
api-contractlabel are generated from the contract: each one says which function is missing or which shared case fails, with the code of another library as a reference. - Say in the issue that you are taking it, so two people do not do the same work.
- Follow the
CONTRIBUTING.mdof the repository: each language has its own tools, style and tests. - Keep the pull request to one change. Small pull requests get reviewed sooner.
Changing what a function does starts in the contract, not in one library. Change the contract explains how.
What to expect
- Everyone here is a volunteer. An answer may take a few days.
- Reviews are about the code. A reviewer may ask for changes. That is part of the work, not a verdict on you.
- An issue can be closed as out of scope. The reason is always written in it.
- Every space follows the Code of Conduct.
Write a good issue
- One problem per issue.
- The library and its version, and the language version.
- The smallest input that shows the problem, and the output you expected.
- A document number in an example must be fake. Use the "generate" function of any library, or a number from the test cases.
